Update on the new FUNcube Dongle Pro+

Folks

A quick update for you. As you may remember, (see http://www.funcubedongle.com/?p=1149) we were short of a couple of parts, and they were supplied to the board assembler on Monday this week for them to restart board assembly.

I am hoping for some more boards early next week, and shipping will resume a day or so after.

Many thanks, Howard

    Hi Howard,
I’ve put my name on the list for one back in September. Can you give any indication as to the likelyhood of when I might be able to get one. It would be nice if I could get it this side of Christmas otherwise I may have to spend the money I have put aside for it on pressies.
    Thanks
    Terry

      Hello Terry

It’s my intention to cover all currently outstanding orders before Christmas. I am dependent on the delivery schedule from my board assembler to achieve this of course, and I currently have no reason to believe that this is not achievable.

      Many thanks, Howard

Terry, shame you haven’t got yours yet, it really is very good indeed. If it helps you at all, I’d be happy to email you a picture of mine. :o)

    Hi Howard,

A question about the antenna used in the pro+ demo Video. I can see all bands working with one antenna? Can you please name the antenna you are using?

    Thanks,

    Frank

    Hello Howard,

I know you are waist deep in spectrum analysers and SMD chips that resemble bowls of rice but I have a slight problem.

You will have to help me before I can help you. Let me explain:

Firstly my order was automatically set for two (2) Funcubedoglepro+ ‘s…

    I only require one.

I then cleared the order to start again and now I can’t order anything I just around in circles o the order website.

Let me know when you have successfully beta tested your pay system. I want to pay using paypal credit card.

Please make it easy for me to give you money.

    Regards from a funcube tragic…

      Hello Simon

Firstly, I am sorry for the delay in replying, and for the difficulty you’ve been encountering with the eCommerce system. Can you let me know which browser you’re using? I’m aware that there is a problem with IE8 and earlier that my eCommerce provider isn’t interested in addressing despite the huge population of IE8 users still out there. Their attitude is “upgrade” which for XP users means an OS upgrade too if they wish to stick with IE. Hardly a helpful response I’m afraid!

It looks like you placed an order on 15 November, and it was delivered yesterday (20 Nov). Can you confirm?

Apologies again for the difficulties you’ve encountered with the ordering process.

      Many thanks, Howard

hi, i just received my notification on availability of my fcd pro+. I’d like to ask what is the current revision of board? is there any bug in this revision and what’s the plan for next revision (bug fix, minor feature change, etc.) thanks

      Hello

There is only one board that has ever been released publicly. There was one board before that, and only one of those was ever assembled: that it was the first prototype after breadboarding. I have that board here, so no-one else should have one of those, it has a bit of rework on it! There is no scheduled rework on the production board.

There are no immediate plans to release a new board. There are a couple of “cosmetic” adjustments I may make in the future for a new board, but there is no functional or performance related reason currently to need to re-spin another board.

      Many thanks, Howard

    Hello Howard,

I believe I am on the list. I haven’t received any availability notification yet, probably because I am way back to the waiting list.

Could you say what is the average waiting time?

    Thanks,

    Frank

    Hi Howard

Received my Funcube Pro Plus and wanted to say thank you for such a superb product.

Set up was easy and I am using SDRSharp to good effect

My question is, is there any other program that works with the FCD+ ? I’d like to try a few other options and software with it. Hope you get time in your busy schedule to reply

    Thanks again

      Hello Montana

Thanks for your note. As well as SDRSharp and HDSDR (with the appropriate EXTIO.DLL, I understand that work is on the way to integrate the FCD+ into SDR Radio. However, you can run most SDR software with the FCD+ if you use the frequency control program. As long as the software supports sound card based SDRs like the Softrock, it should support the FCD+ (and FCD for that matter).

      Many thanks, Howard

While I do not want to sound demanding, any chance please at this point in the run up to Christmas to know if my request for a Pro+ is in the system? I am concerned my ISP has been SPAM dumping my email as I have found a few individual “Funcube” Group emails there.

I made my request back around the beginning of November and read the trouble with some Win 8 and the ordering software. I used my iPad at the time and saw a note about not repeating making a reservation (which i haven’t done) so maybe that means I am not on the list.

Either way, just an indication I’m actually “in the waiting” would be good. I have a standard FCD working well so no urgency. Thank you Howard.

Funcube pro + is an excellent receiver.
I have compared it with my Ft817 .
Together with SDRcharp software woks it fine in a virtual Windows engine on a Macbook Air
    This is really great stuff

    • admin says:

      Hello Gerard

Many thanks for your comments. Much of the work that I do on the FCD is indeed on Windows 8 in a virtual machine on a Mac, so you’re in good company!

      Many thanks, Howard

  10. admin says:

    Hello Pete

Yes I am sorry for the lack of correspondence, the ecommerce system I have is not very good with waiting lists, it appears now I’ve started to use it that they bolted on the feature without much thought.

I would anticipate that you’ll be receiving an email in the next week to ten days.

    Many thanks, Howard

  11. Daniel says:

    Hi Howard,

I know all those people asking you if they are on the waiting list must be bugging you.. but I’m afraid I cannot wait any longer 😉

I think I have placed my order between October 26 and the first week in November, so I guess that I should receive a confirmation in the next few days to weeks, compared to the other guys that have asked you before. Just wanted to make sure that my corporate mail server didn’t block your mail.

One question, would it make sense to publish an update on the waiting list regularly, so people know what to expect? Something like “at the moment, we are processing orders from the last two weeks of October” on the top of the FCD Pro+ page.. I think that would make many impatient guys like me a little less nervous.

    Thanks, Daniel

    • Daniel says:

      Hi again,

I just placed my order, so no need to confirm that my pre-order was processed!

I still think that a regular update on the waiting queue would be a great service for all those folks that are still suffering from that “cheap-o-webshoppe” software..

Looking forward for the FCD Pro+ to arrive! Thank you Howard for all your efforts :-)

      • admin says:

        Hello Daniel

No problem. In fact a piece of work I’ve been working on to notify people is just about finished, I have just sent an email shot to those still waiting indicating their place in the queue.

I hadn’t realised just how painful and under-developed eCommerce software really is until these recent few weeks.

        Many thanks, Howard

    • admin says:

      Hello Daniel

You should have received an email this morning.

      Many thanks, Howard
