A complete microscope inspection of every part on the whole board is conducted. Those 32 pin leadless QFNs almost always seem to need hand touchup.<\/p>\n<p>Placing the surface mount parts on four boards takes me about\u00a0two hours &#8211; that&#8217;s placing 400 parts in total. Optical inspection\u00a0and associated rework takes about 20 minutes per board.<\/p>\n<p>Once the boards have been built, I need to mount the SMA and USB plugs and\u00a0the crystal. That takes about another 15 minutes per board.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.funcubedongle.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/P1010381med.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-42 aligncenter\" title=\"P1010381med\" src=\"https:\/\/www.funcubedongle.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/P1010381med.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1288\" height=\"882\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.funcubedongle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/P1010381med.jpg 1288w, https:\/\/www.funcubedongle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/P1010381med-300x205.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.funcubedongle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/P1010381med-1024x701.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1288px) 100vw, 1288px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The rework for the LNA in the first PCB &#8220;spin&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0We found in initial tests that sensitivity at VHF wasn&#8217;t quite good enough so we&#8217;ve been testing various LNAs.
