{"id":907,"date":"2012-08-28T17:28:37","date_gmt":"2012-08-28T17:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.funcubedongle.com\/?p=907"},"modified":"2012-08-28T17:28:37","modified_gmt":"2012-08-28T17:28:37","slug":"the-funcube-dongle-pro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.funcubedongle.com\/?p=907","title":{"rendered":"The FUNcube Dongle Pro+"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Folks<\/p>\n<p>While we&#8217;ve been out of stock of the original FUNcube Dongle waiting for parts, a couple of months ago we\u00a0decided to\u00a0take the opportunity to take into account the feedback by many FCD users with\u00a0a redesign we&#8217;re calling the FUNcube Dongle Pro+. I think that you will find that the results\u00a0are very worthwhile. There are many enhancements both in performance and features, and<strong> I&#8217;ll be demonstrating these at the AMSAT-UK Colloquium on September 14-16, 2012,<\/strong> and I highly recommend that you attend if you can!<\/p>\n<p>This is a complete redesign. To give you a flavour, the new FCD has well over\u00a0twice\u00a0as many parts in\u00a0its bill of materials. To cater for this, the board is now a six-layer design (the original FCD was only double sided). To fit these extra parts in, they are soldered on both sides of the PCB. There are no fewer than eleven discrete front end preselection filters, including some serious SAW filters specifically chosen for the 2m and 70cm amateur bands.
