I have had a question recently about the inventory status. I can confirm that we have stock, and units are available for immediate dispatch.
We’ve pretty much been in stock permanently now since August last year, and I placed an order last week for a further 500, so I don’t anticipate any shortages.

We’ll be closed from 28 Dec to 6 Jan for a short vacation, so any orders received during this period will be shipped immediately when we return.

Here is the global distribution of about 75% of the FUNcube Dongle population. Not all are included as many are now distributed by third parties, and occasionally Paypal won’t give me the country in a simple to number crunch way.
We still have stock, and I have a further 500 on their way from the board assembler tomorrow. We use Fedex International Priority for all non-UK shipments, so we’re good for global delivery before Christmas. UK shipment is by Special Delivery.

In the past few weeks we have taken the opportunity to order a bumper load of FUNcube Dongles to make sure we have enough inventory to see us through to the new year. These units are already coming through so we anticipate being able to supply all the way through the next few weeks. We’ve been down to single digits on a few occasions, but we’ve not run out for some weeks now. Maybe I should get a job in JIT manufacturing and resourcing!

The FUNcube Dongle is primarily designed for use with AMSAT-UK’s forthcoming FUNcube satellite, but we’ve found it’s being used in a pleathora of other space applications including radio astronomy, deep space probe monitoring and receiving signals bounced off the moon.
But it doesn’t end there. There are plenty of other applications, terrestrial as well as space, not to mention its use as a piece of test equipment. You only need to take a look at the FUNcube Yahoo group – with nearly 2,500 members – to get an idea. Although the group is independent of the day-to-day FUNcube Dongle manufacturing and distribution operations, the community on the FUNcube group also have been invaluable in getting many people started with their FUNcube Dongles – a big thank you to all on the group!
